Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that after discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the army has been instructed to intensify operations in Lebanon. Katz said in the statement that in response to the attacks by Hezbollah, the IDF has retaliated against several targets in Lebanon, including the Dahiya area of ​​Beirut. He warned Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that if the Lebanese government cannot control Hezbollah’s activities in its territory and stop attacks on northern Israeli communities, then Israel itself will take action.

Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets at northern Israel late on Wednesday (11 March 2026). According to Reuters report, more than 100 rockets were fired in the attacks. In response, Israel carried out several air strikes on the southern areas of Beirut, causing massive destruction and an atmosphere of panic. A senior Israeli defense official claimed that the attack was part of a joint action by Iran and Hezbollah. According to him, for the first time since the beginning of the war, both sides have launched a missile attack. This has further increased the tension in the area.

Statement from the Lebanese Health Ministry

The Lebanese Health Ministry said on Thursday (12 March 2026) that at least 8 people died in the Israeli attack on Beirut’s Ramlet al-Baida beach, while according to Lebanese officials, more than 600 people have lost their lives in the Israeli attacks so far and about 8 lakh people have been displaced. The Israeli government says that it is committed to restoring peace under any circumstances. Defense Minister Katz further said that Israel will take necessary steps to ensure the safety of its citizens.

France helped Lebanon

France on Thursday (12 March 2026) sent a plane carrying 60 tons of medicines and other relief materials from Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport to Beirut to help the civilians affected by the war in Lebanon. According to officials, apart from medicines, this consignment also includes ground mats, emergency medical kits and food for small children. French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarro said, ‘Based on the information we currently have, we hope and are confident that this plane will be able to land safely in Beirut as soon as possible.’
