What did the government say on the question of Congress MP?
Answering the question of the Congress MP, Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita said that India’s policy towards Palestine and Israel has been going on for a long time. India is committed to achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East.
He said that Prime Minister Modi met the President of Palestine on the occasion of the Summit of the Future held in New York in September 2024 and reiterated India’s principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue. Whereas during his state visit to Israel in February 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s support for all efforts that contribute to lasting peace and regional stability.
India calls for solution through diplomacy and dialogue: Margherita
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita said India has expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and stressed the need for safe, timely and continuous supply of humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine. India has condemned the killing of civilians and called for a ceasefire, release of all hostages and a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. India has also welcomed the Gaza peace plan. He said that India’s support for all efforts for lasting peace has also been reaffirmed by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh at the Gaza Peace Summit to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh on October 13, 2025.
How much humanitarian aid has India provided so far?
Margherita further said that since the beginning of the conflict, India has provided approximately 70 metric tons of humanitarian assistance, including 16.5 metric tons of medicines and medical supplies, which were sent in two phases in October-November 2023. Additionally, in October and November 2024, India sent 65 tonnes of medicines to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the Palestine Ministry of Health.
He said that since the beginning, India has also provided a total of US $ 12.5 million in financial assistance, which also includes $ 5 million given in 2025, which was given to UNRWA.
