Narendrapur News: A serious case has come to light from Narendrapur, West Bengal, in which a girl had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint of eve teasing, but there she was treated in an objectionable manner. The victim claims that the SHO of the police station, after listening to her, said, “The gang rape should have happened by now”, which left her shocked.
The law student and victim told ABP Ananda that she returns from Alipur Court every day and while returning home around 8-9 pm, some boys taunt her, make objectionable comments and behave obscenely near a restaurant called ‘Taste of Darjeeling’. This matter has been going on continuously for the last one-two months. This incident happened during the same time on 7th.
Accusation of objectionable remarks on SHO
The victim further told that she told the entire incident to her mother and immediately went to Narendrapur police station. When she told everything to the SHO at the police station, the SHO said, “From what you are saying, the gang rape should have happened by now.” This comment was made in his room. According to the victim, her mother and many officers were present there and everyone was shocked. He said, “Can this kind of thing be said to the girl who had gone to lodge a complaint?”
Attempt to complain to the Chief Minister
The victim’s father told that he tried to raise the matter with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but could not meet her directly as the protest stage was closed. After this he contacted Arup Biswas, who assured to immediately take the matter to the Chief Minister.
Police started investigating the case
The next day, the victim lodged a written complaint and handed it over to the officials at the Chief Minister’s Office. The victim’s father also raised this matter before the judge during a Women’s Day program. Baruipur District Police has started investigating the case. In the police investigation, it is being ascertained what exactly the SHO of the police station said, how true the complaint is and the available facts and evidence are being matched.
