Union Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is in power in Punjab. He also indicated that BJP will not form an alliance with any party in the upcoming elections and will enter the fray for the first time with the resolve to form a government with full majority in the state.
Tribute to the sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji
In his address, the Union Home Minister mentioned the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He said, ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was called Hindi Chadar, because he had worked to protect the Kashmiri Pandits from the terror of the Mughals by cutting off their heads. Today I want to say from this platform, from the holy land of Punjab, from the holy land of Moga, that if Guru Teg Bahadur ji had not been there, there would have been no Hindu left in India today. It is their sacrifice that has kept this country afloat. Here I salute all the great Sikh Gurus from Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj to Dasham Pita.
Taunted on CM Mann and Kejriwal
Amit Shah took a tough dig at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Making serious allegations of corruption, he said, ‘Aam Aadmi Party came to power on the promise of change. I want to ask AAP leaders, what is your Chief Minister actually doing? Throughout the country, wherever Kejriwal has to go, this Chief Minister has done nothing except hiring an airplane at the Punjab Government’s expense and flying him there as his personal pilot. The Chief Minister of this state should hang his head in shame. Four ‘Subedars’ have come from Delhi, and they are looting Punjab’s money and taking it back to Delhi and the Chief Minister of Punjab is not even saying ‘oops’. Punjab government has become just Kejriwal’s ATM.
Signs to contest elections alone
The Union Home Minister indicated that BJP will not form an alliance with anyone in Punjab. He said, ‘For the first time we are going to contest elections to form our government.
Elections in Punjab Assembly are starting from today, we always came before you in the role of younger brother, that is why our government was never formed. If anyone can free Punjab from drugs, only Narendra Modi and his double engine BJP government can do it. Give a chance to BJP and we will bring change in Punjab.
full of enthusiasm among the workers
Enthusing the workers, the Home Minister said that the 19% vote share BJP got in the 2024 elections is a proof that the people of Punjab want change. He said, “We have always been in the role of ‘younger brother’, hence our government was never formed. But this time we will contest the elections alone and form the government to bring back the pride of Punjab.”
Election promise on drugs safety
Shah held Congress, Akali Dal and the present government responsible for the plight of Punjab. Asking the public to give a chance to the ‘double engine’ government, he said, I promise to give a chance to BJP, we will root out the drug trade from Punjab within 2 years. He said that only the willpower of BJP can stop the extortion of gangsters and increasing crimes. Also promised that if the government is formed, concrete economic changes will be brought to stop the migration of industries and youth from Punjab.
