Tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan is continuously increasing. Pakistan, which has been struggling for a long time, has once again carried out a major military action on Afghanistan. Pakistan issued a statement on Sunday (March 15, 2026) saying that its army has launched vigorous attacks on military facilities and terrorist targets located in the southern part of Afghanistan. This attack is the latest development in the ongoing tension between the two countries.
Where did Pakistani Army attack in Afghanistan?
News agency AFP, quoting security sources, has reported that Pakistan’s army has targeted Afghanistan’s technical support infrastructure and equipment storage facility located in Kandahar and effectively destroyed them. Actually, Kandahar is a city situated in the southern part of Afghanistan, where the administration of the supreme leader of Taliban, Hibatullah Akhundzada is located.
According to the report, Pakistani officials said that a tunnel in Kandahar, which has been used by both the Afghan Taliban and the Pakistani Taliban terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was also attacked. Officials said this tunnel was used for recent attacks inside Pakistan.
People heard the sound of explosions and saw rising flames.
According to the AFP report, people living in Kandahar said that they saw military planes flying over the city late at night and also heard the sounds of several explosions. One person said that the army plane had flown over the mountains in the area where a military base is located. After the plane took off, a loud bang was heard. Along with this, flames also became visible.
Some others said that sounds of air strikes were heard in the border town of Spin Boldak, located south-east of Kandahar. Authorities in Khost province, located on the eastern border, said clashes were reported on the night of Saturday (March 14, 2026).
