Humanoid Robot: With the development of technology across the world, robotics is also progressing rapidly. Till now, humanoid robots have been seen in technology demonstrations and laboratories, where they were being prepared for factory work or small household tasks. But now a new report is indicating that the use of these robots may reach the battlefield in the future.
According to recently revealed information, a startup has sent such robots to Ukraine which can be used for monitoring and gathering information in the war zone. If this experiment is successful then the way of fighting wars may completely change in the future.
Two special robots sent to Ukraine
According to the report, former soldier Mike LeBlanc, co-founder of robotics company Foundation Robotics, said that his company had sent two Phantom Mk‑I humanoid robots to Ukraine earlier this year.
These machines were sent to the war front in February so that they could help in surveillance work on the front line. Currently this technology is in the testing phase and is also being tested in industrial environments in different countries. If this claim proves to be completely true, then this will be the first time that a humanoid robot has been used directly in a war zone.
Attempt to reduce the threat of soldiers
The company believes that in future such robots can reduce the danger to human soldiers. The plan is that in the upcoming versions, these robots should be prepared for such tasks which are currently done by human soldiers.
According to some reports, the Phantom Mk-I prototype has also been tested with the ability to hold and fire different types of weapons during testing. Weapons like pistols and shotguns are said to be included in this. The company has also conducted experiments with simulated military equipment to understand potential military uses.
Increasing use of robotics in war
During the ongoing Russia–Ukraine War between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine has included many types of robotic systems in its military operations. According to data from government initiative United24, more than 7,000 robotic missions were completed in the month of January alone. Many of these missions are not for direct combat but for supply and logistics related tasks, such as delivering ammunition, weapons or food items to soldiers.
This technology is still in its initial stages
However, experts believe that it will take time for humanoid robots to be used directly in war on a large scale. For this, countries will have to develop new technology, security systems and military infrastructure. Yet it is clear that with the increasing use of robotics and artificial intelligence, future wars may become more technical and automated than ever before.
