On March 14, 2026, at around 8 pm, the police received credible information that some people were having a party with alcohol and drugs at Rohit Reddy’s farmhouse in Moinabad. Acting immediately on this information, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) team of Telangana Police along with Moinabad Police raided the farmhouse.
The police team reached the farmhouse at 9:05 pm after taking search authorization from ACP Chevella Division. As the officers tried to enter, shots were fired from inside the premises in the direction of the police. During investigation, .32 bore revolver and empty cartridges were recovered. During interrogation, the person holding the weapon was identified as Delhi-based businessman Namit Sharma, while another accused, Silveri Sharat Kumar, was found with empty cartridges. Gunshot residue (GSR) samples were also taken for forensic examination.
5 people including Reddy positive
Urine drug test of all the 11 people present at the spot was done, out of which 5 people including Rohit Reddy were found positive. Later in the blood test, TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar also turned out to be positive. A total of six people, Rohit Reddy, his brother Ritesh Reddy, Namit Sharma, lawyer Kaushik Ravi, businessman Thiruvidula Arjun Reddy and MP Putta Mahesh were positive in the drug test. A huge quantity of foreign liquor including cocaine, beer, whiskey, vodka was recovered from the farmhouse.
14 days judicial custody
Rohit Reddy, his brother Ritesh Reddy and Delhi-based businessman Namit Sharma were produced before the magistrate. The Upparpally Court rejected the bail applications of all three and sent them to judicial custody for 14 days. Police said that all three will be transferred to Chanchalguda jail. MP Putta Mahesh and seven other accused were given notice and released on bail.
In this case, a case has been registered under sections 8(C), 22(A), 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act, sections 25(1-B)(a) and 30 of the Arms Act, section 34(a) of the Telangana Excise Act and sections 109 and 131 of the BNS. This is the same farmhouse which also came into limelight in the high-profile poaching controversy of BRS MLAs in 2022.
This incident has also created a political storm. Telangana Congress President met BRS Working President K.T. Gave an open challenge to Rama Rao to give a drug test. KTR replied that he was ready for the test, but objected to his name being dragged into the controversy. The investigation of the case is going on and the police is busy exposing the drug supply chain.
