Due to the ongoing war between America and Iran, the Strait of Hormuz has been closed. Iran has deployed troops through this route. Ships from many countries pass through Hormuz. India has also been affected due to this. Trump had sought the support of many countries of the world on the issue of Hormuz, but he has received a setback from Germany. Germany has said that this war has nothing to do with NATO countries.
Berlin has responded to US President Trump’s appeal. A German government spokesman said, “This war has nothing to do with NATO. This is not NATO’s war. Participation in it was not considered before the war and is not being considered now.” German Foreign Minister Johann Wedfull also told journalists that he did not see any role for NATO members in Hormuz.
Which countries did Trump seek cooperation from?
Through a post on the social media platform ‘Truth’, Trump had appealed to China, France, Japan, South Korea, Britain and other countries to send ships to the Strait of Hormuz. He also said that America will destroy Iran and will stop the war only after completely destroying it.
Ships from many countries of the world including India could not cross Hormuz. However, two Indian ships Nanda Devi and Shivalik were given passage. Shivalik reached Mundra Port on Monday (16 March). It has come to India with LPG gas. Due to Iran war, there is a crisis of LPG gas in the country. However, the government has claimed that there will be no shortage of gas in the country. However, many Indian ships have still not been able to cross Hormuz.
