Politics is heated before the assembly elections in West Bengal. State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) alleged that central forces tried to search her car while she was going to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. This allegation of Mamata Banerjee has come a day after the alleged order of the Election Commission, in which it had directed to search the vehicles of Trinamool Congress leaders and their family members.
Why not search PM Modi’s car: Mamata Banerjee
Addressing an election rally in Islampur in North Dinajpur district, CM Mamata Banerjee said, today the central security forces also came to search my car at Dum Dum airport. I said search…search. I want them to search. If the cars of all Trinamool leaders are being searched, then will the vehicles of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and CRPF not be searched?’
I am not a thief: Mamata Banerjee
CM Mamata Banerjee asked, ‘Why will the cars of BJP leaders not be searched? Why will only Trinamool’s cars be searched? Intensifying his attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Chief Minister further said that if you have the courage, then leave aside the rest and search my car every day. Even today they came in a hurry, I let them go, but they got scared and ran away. They came to search my car, I was happy. I am not a thief.
I don’t take a single penny as salary: Mamata Banerjee
She said, ‘I do not take a single penny as salary from the government. Trinamool Congress on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of giving special instructions to all the flying surveillance teams deployed for the two-phase assembly elections in West Bengal. Under these instructions, vehicles of all Trinamool Congress leaders and their close relatives, except Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, will be checked. Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and his wife Rujira Narula Banerjee are also involved in this investigation of vehicles.
