Tis Hazari court sentenced in 26 year old case, sent CBI officer and two others to jail

Tis Hazari Court Verdict: Tis Hazari Court sentenced in the case of assault on a former IRS officer in Delhi. This case is 26 years old. CBI Joint Director Ramneesh and retired ACP Vivek Pandey have been sentenced in the case filed by former IRS officer Ashok Aggarwal.

The court has given bail to challenge its decision. This case was filed in the year 2000 on the complaint of former IRS officer Ashok Aggarwal.

what is the whole matter
This case is related to the arrest and raid of an IRS officer in October 2000. On April 18 itself, the court had convicted both the officers on charges of assault and criminal encroachment. After this, a hearing on the punishment was held on Tuesday, in which both the parties presented their arguments.

Complainant’s lawyer demanded strict punishment to the culprits
During the hearing in Tis Hazari Court, the complainant’s lawyer demanded strict punishment and said that the victim had to stay in jail for 38 days.

He also said that the court itself has accepted that senior officials misused the system in this case. The lawyer argued that the complainant has waited for justice for 26 years. Therefore, the culprits should get maximum punishment and appropriate compensation.

Defense lawyer sought relief from Tis Hazari court

The defense lawyer appealed for relief in punishment. He said that both the officers had not gone to take action of their own free will. Rather, they had reached there on duty. He also said that both of them had no personal dispute with the complainant and they had faced trial and departmental investigation for a long time. The lawyer appealed to the court to reduce or waive the sentence on humanitarian grounds.
