BJP worker Mosharif Mir beaten up by TMC supporters, office also vandalized, Mamata Banerjee accused of spreading terrorism

During the second phase of voting for the assembly elections in West Bengal, incidents of violence and vandalism were reported at many places including Chhapra, Shantipur and Bhangar on Wednesday. According to PTI, BJP candidate from Entali seat Priyana Tibrewal got into a fight with polling officials and security personnel when her representative was thrown out of the polling booth.

According to reports, since the booth was small, the agent was ordered to go out. A representative of the TMC candidate also joined the fight, after which both were asked to leave. The BJP leader said how irritated these people are. To press one button, they have to make 10 people stand inside.

TMC people attacked BJP worker
BJP worker was allegedly attacked by TMC people in Chapra of Nadia district. Senior police officer said that activist Mosharif Mir has been admitted to the local hospital. Mir claimed that more than a dozen Trinamool workers, one of whom was carrying a gun, pounced on him and beat him with rods. BJP’s Saikat Sarkar, contesting from Chapra seat, accused Trinamool workers of the attack. He said that he was hit on the head, due to which he suffered injuries.

Video shared by PTI shows a man being dragged by paramilitary personnel and policemen, who are holding his hand or leg. In the video, two armed security personnel are seen attacking a person with sticks.

BJP office vandalized
Meanwhile, there were reports of damage to property from Shantipur. Police said that furniture was broken in the local BJP office, due to which tension spread in the area. At the same time, in Bhangar of South 24 Parganas district, allegations were made that a polling agent of the newly formed organization Indian Secular Front associated with the Left Front was stopped from entering the polling booth.

The car of BJP’s South 24 Parganas candidate Bikash Sardar was vandalized. The rear windshield of the orange colored Maruti Baleno was broken. The party has held Trinamool workers responsible for this.

Amidst these clashes, Mamata Banerjee has accused the central security forces of working at the behest of BJP. He said that central forces are targeting our people. Voting cannot happen like this. He strongly criticized BJP, accusing it of calling observers from outside.

He further said, “So many observers have come from outside and do whatever the BJP says. Look, our posters have been removed. Is this how elections are conducted? Voters will cast their votes, not security forces. Some new people have been brought in. They are spreading terrorism.”
