Azim Premji University: The matter has become heated after the protest by ABVP in Azim Premji University, Sarjapur. In this case, an FIR has been registered against ABVP workers in Sarjapur police station.
Sarjapur police detained ABVP workers in connection with the protest and produced them in Anekal court. About 20 activists got bail and were released at around 3.30 pm.
fighting during demonstration
Students of Azim Premji University claimed that a student was assaulted during the ABVP protest. Students say that ABVP members disrupted a program on women’s issues in Kashmir. According to the students, ABVP workers forcibly entered the campus, stopped the discussion and damaged university property.
Tension increased on campus
The students also alleged that ABVP members called them anti-national, which further increased the tension on the campus and deepened the differences. After this incident, the students submitted a list of demands to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and demanded his intervention. Their main demands are as follows-
- State government should ban RSS.
- Immediate action should be taken against ABVP workers involved in the vandalism.
- Safety of students, teachers and academic discussions should be ensured on the campus.
Protest continued till late night
After the incident, protests continued on the campus till late night. Students raised slogans and the atmosphere remained tense. Police kept vigil outside the university, but the protests remained confined to the campus.
Claim to promote separatism
According to PTI, ABVP workers demonstrated against Azim Premji University on Tuesday. His allegation was that a program organized at the institute was promoting separatism in Jammu and Kashmir and insulting the Indian Army. Police force was deployed outside the university and the entire matter was monitored.
