Big announcement from West Bengal government! Unemployed between 21 to 41 years will get an allowance of Rs 1500

West Bengal News: The West Bengal government is taking a big step before the 2026 assembly elections. This time the state government has decided to provide unemployment allowance, under which eligible youth will be given financial assistance of Rs 1500 every month. This scheme will be implemented from 15 August 2026.

The objective of this scheme is to provide financial support to those youth who have passed secondary or its equivalent examination, but have not yet got any job and are not availing the benefit of any other government scholarship. This new scheme has been named ‘Banglar Yuva Sathi’ project. Under this, eligible unemployed beneficiaries aged between 21 to 41 years will be given financial assistance of Rs 1500 per month for a maximum of five years or until they get employment.

Budget of Rs 5000 crore fixed

The state government has set a budget of about Rs 5,000 crore for this project. According to the government, this scheme will be implemented from August 15, 2026, that is, it will be formally started after the assembly elections.

Apart from this, in the interim budget, the government has also announced an increase in the ongoing Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme for women. From February, general category women will be given Rs 1,500 per month and SC-ST category women will be given Rs 1,700 per month. A total of Rs 15,000 crore has been allocated for the Lakshmi Bhandar project.

Employees will get increased DA

While announcing relief for the employees, the state government has also said that the increased dearness allowance (DA) will be implemented from April 1 and the formation of the Seventh Pay Commission. All these announcements are being seen as a big financial help for the youth, women and employees from the government, which is being considered an important step before the 2026 assembly elections.
