BJP shares video of TMC MP Kirti Azad smoking e-cigarette in Parliament, seeks reply from Mamata Banerjee

A video of Trinamool Congress MP Kirti Azad is going viral on social media. In this, MP Azad is seen smoking cigarette inside the Parliament. This is being said to be an e-cigarette. BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya has shared the video and written that the TMC MP whom BJP MP Anurag Thakur has accused of vaping inside the Parliament is none other than Kirti Azad.

Amit Malviya said that rules and regulations clearly do not matter to people like him. Just imagine how much courage it took to hide an e-cigarette in the palm of your hand while in the House. Smoking may not be illegal, but using it is not at all acceptable. Mamata Banerjee should clarify this misbehavior of her MP.

The video shows Azad sitting inside the Lok Sabha and making a smoking gesture – that is, he brought his right hand to his mouth and held it for five seconds. However, neither cigarette, e-cigarette nor any smoke was visible in the clip broadcast on X channel.

Pradeep Bhandari also shared the video

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has also shared the video related to this. He wrote that this is a crime. It is an insult to the temple of democracy. Mamta Banerjee should answer. What example are their MPs setting before the people of India?

Anurag Thakur had accused TMC MP

A few days ago, Anurag Thakur had accused a TMC MP of smoking e-cigarette. He told the Chair that the House should know that e-cigarettes are banned in the country. I want to ask the Lok Sabha Speaker whether he has given permission to smoke e-cigarettes in the House. A TMC MP has been smoking e-cigarette inside the Lok Sabha for several days.

‘I can tell the names of many MPs…’

Regarding this, TMC’s Kirti Azad had said that he can tell the names of the MPs who smoke in the premises. Azad had said, I can tell the names of hundreds of MPs who smoke in the premises, but I do not want to stoop to this level… What if I say that a BJP MP takes 30-40% commission in MPLADS. It isn’t until I prove it. I have to go through the rules and procedures of the House first. Where before making any allegation you have to inform the speaker.

Attention should be paid to Delhi’s pollution: Saugata Roy

Senior TMC MP Saugata Roy had also said that there is no allegation. Smoking cigarettes is prohibited inside the House, but there is no objection to smoking cigarettes in the open space outside the House. Pollution in Delhi is at its peak during the BJP government. Instead of making such allegations, they should pay attention to this.

There was an uproar when smoking was banned in the House in 2015

Actually, there has been a controversy regarding smoking inside the Parliament, this is not the first time. In 2015, there was an uproar after smoking was banned inside the House. Then the smoking room was converted into the office of Trinamool. Then MPs from both the parties had complained about this matter to the then Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
