Delhi High Court has ordered actor R. An important interim order has been given in Madhavan’s favor while protecting his personality rights. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora has banned the commercial misuse of R Madhavan’s name, picture, voice and anything related to his identity. The court made it clear that selling any kind of commercial goods using the actor’s picture or appearance will be prohibited. Along with this, instructions have also been given to remove obscene, deepfake and fake content created through AI on social media and other online platforms.
R Madhavan had filed an application in the court
Senior advocate Swati Sukumar, appearing for the actor in Delhi High Court, said that many people have criticized R. Fake videos, trailers and obscene material have been created by misusing Madhavan’s picture and identity. He also said that before filing the suit, the actor had sought removal of such content from the respective social media platforms.
Delhi High Court gave important order in the case
Delhi High Court had recently made it clear that if a person wants to get objectionable content removed online, then it is necessary to first contact the social media platforms. Only after this the court can be approached. While giving the order, Justice Arora said that the sale of merchandise is banned against some of the parties included in the list and in one case, action will also be taken on the grounds of obscenity.
Delhi High Court has already given important orders
Even before this, many celebrities have approached the Delhi High Court for the protection of their personality rights. These include Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, actor Salman Khan and NTR Jr. Apart from this, the court has already protected the personality rights of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Nagarjuna, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, journalist Sudhir Chaudhary and podcaster Raj Shamani.
