Delhi Police is continuously taking action regarding the shirtless demonstration of Youth Congress during the AI Summit. Delhi Police has detained IYC national president Uday Bhanu. Earlier it was reported that Delhi Police issued summons to the Youth Congress President for questioning in connection with the protest. Youth Congress itself gave this information on social media.
KC Venugopal said – Government forgets, demonstration is the heart of democracy
Congress has also reacted to this action of Delhi Police. Congress Lok Sabha MP KC Venugopal has made a scathing attack while posting on social media. He has said that Delhi Police has detained the National President and cadre of Youth Congress in connection with the demonstration at the AI Summit. I strongly condemn this. This government forgets that protest is the heart of democracy. There is no crime.
He further said that what our Youth Congress workers did was that they bravely showed how compromised the PM is. This was a peaceful demonstration without any violence. This arrest is completely illegal. We demand that all of them be released immediately. All charges should be removed.
Youth Congress wrote- Dictators are also remembered
On the action of Delhi Police, Youth Congress has issued a post on social media saying that history is witness. Dictators are remembered and so are those who refused to bow down to fear. Delhi Police has illegally detained IYC President Udaybhanu. This shows that a peaceful protest has given PM and BJP sleepless nights. This fight is not ours. It belongs to the public. Everyone will have to decide together what kind of democracy they want.
The media cell of Youth Congress had informed that the police called National President Uday Bhanu to Tilak Marg police station. However, the department did not elaborate on the reasons for the inquiry. Workers and officials of the organization are keeping an eye on this. The commotion has increased outside the police station.
Delhi Police has already arrested five people
Police have arrested five accused involved in the protest. All of them are Youth Congress workers. In this, Krishna Hari (Bihar), Kundan Yadav (Bihar), Ajay Kumar (UP), Narasimha Yadav (Telangana) and Jitendra Yadav (Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior) have been arrested.
