Mumbai’s Civic Administration has started action against the production banner of filmmaker Aditya Dhar. This has been done because safety norms have been violated repeatedly during the shooting of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. This move may have a major impact on the ongoing and future shooting of the film in the city.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sought permission to permanently bar B62 Studio from applying for permission to shoot in Mumbai. This proposal comes after several alleged violations of police and civic guidelines during the recent shooting in A Ward of South Mumbai.
Rules were violated repeatedly during the shooting of Dhurandhar 2
According to BMC officials, rules were broken several times during the shooting of the film Dhurandhar 2. Once cylinder gas was used for cooking on the set, second time the shooting location was changed without informing the authorities. Therefore, BMC A ward officials have written a letter to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to blacklist the studio, but no action has been taken yet. Earlier, Mumbai Police had filed a complaint for the use of drones on the sets of Dhurandhar 2.
What did the BMC official say?
Explaining the decision, a BMC official told The Indian Express, “If the approval is granted, two more applicants including B62 production house Komal Pokhriyal, Nasir Khan can no longer apply for shoot permission on the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development CL website. On Tuesday, we will also send a notice to these three applicants informing them of the action, and a copy of the notice will be sent to the Maharashtra Film Cell and BMC “Will also be shared with the business cell head of the company.”
The report further said that the office has proposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh for allegedly filming on the rooftop of a building and using a generator van without any permission. The report further states that the security deposit of Rs 25,000 deposited by the applicant has been confiscated. Although the studio has not been officially blacklisted yet, it is reported that the proposal has been approved for further action.
A case was also registered against Dhurandhar 2 location manager.
Earlier, Mumbai Police had registered a case against the location manager of the film. The complaint states that the drone was flown in the high-security Fort area of South Mumbai without necessary permission. In this case, an FIR was registered against Rinku Rajpal Valmiki under section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at MRA Marg police station on February 1. The allegation is that he deliberately ignored the correct orders of the officers.
According to the police, a drone was used during the shooting of a scene, but no official permission was taken for it. It has been said in the FIR that the drone was flown without following the rules.
