Elon Musk Grows AI: Elon Musk, owner of social media platform Musk has clearly said that if any user uses Grok to create illegal or objectionable content, then the same action will be taken against him as is taken against those who upload illegal content.

Statement came after India’s takedown order

This statement of Elon Musk has come at a time when India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has ordered X to immediately remove obscene, indecent and illegal content. In this instruction, it has been specifically asked to pay attention to the content created by Grok AI. The Ministry has told X in clear words that action should be taken without delay against such content being spread on the platform.

Not AI, user is responsible

Responding to a post on X, Elon Musk said that those creating illegal content with Grok should not think that the responsibility lies with AI. He said that just as the pen cannot be blamed for writing something wrong, similarly AI tools also cannot be held responsible. What comes out of Grok largely depends on what input the user gives it.

Government asked for report within 72 hours

The Government of India has not only directed X to remove the objectionable content but has also said that a complete report of the action taken should be submitted within 72 hours. The ministry says that from time to time it has been receiving complaints that some content is being spread on the platform which is against the laws of the country and the standards of decency.

Concern increases over objectionable pictures of women

The seriousness of this entire matter increased further when Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote a letter to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav demanding intervention. He alleged that Grok AI is being misused to create obscene and derogatory pictures of women and spreading them on social media.

Allegations of fake accounts and objectionable content

It has also been said in the government order that some users are creating obscene pictures and videos of women by creating fake accounts through Grok AI. Their aim is said to be to humiliate women and present them in an indecent manner, which is a direct violation of the law.

The ministry has already warned

This is not the first time that the government has warned social media platforms. On December 29, MeitY had issued an advisory to all platforms asking them to review their systems and take strict action against objectionable and illegal content. The ministry had also made it clear that if the rules are not followed, legal action can be taken under Indian law.
