According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, earlier the digital platform had wanted to buy the streaming rights of both the parts together before the theatrical release of ‘Dhurandhar’. According to the report, a source said, “Netflix wanted to buy both the parts together for Rs 175 crore before the release of the first part. But Jio Studios waited for the release of the first part and has sealed a huge deal of Rs 150 crore only for the second part. This is almost double the amount given by Netflix to buy the first part.”
According to the report, the digital rights of the first part were sold for Rs 85 crore. It has been said in the report that the insider also informed that this deal of Rs 150 crore is one of the biggest transactions in recent times. He also told that nowadays streaming platforms are showing less interest in acquisitions, however, due to the tremendous success of ‘Dhurandhar’ and the demand of the audience, they had to pay such a huge amount.
