Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Dattatreya Hosabale said in Washington that Indian expatriates settled abroad should remain completely loyal to the country where they are currently living. Hosabale said that Indians settled abroad should not only try to become better citizens of their present country but also prove that Hindu society is capable of making meaningful contribution in every sphere of local life – be it leadership, social service or any other responsibility.
What did Hosabale say about the American trip?
Hosabale, who is on a visit to America, said that the focus of his conversation here was to remove the misconceptions spread about the Sangh. He said that due to the ongoing propaganda against the Sangh for the last several decades, a distorted image of this 100-year-old organization has been formed in the minds of Americans. Hosabale said, “All these years the Sangh has been working quietly with the belief that our work is our message but now we thought it would be better to reach out to the people directly. Our message should now reach people not only through our actions but also through our words.
Many misconceptions are spread in western countries – Hosabale
Hosabale reached America last week after visiting Britain. In Britain he met academics, thinkers, policy experts and various sections of the Indian expatriate community. All this is part of the contact campaign being run to commemorate the centenary of the Sangh. Sangh’s Sarkaryavah said that many misconceptions are spread about the organization, especially in western countries, where the Sangh is seen as a Hindu supremacist organization. He said, “This propaganda has been going on for decades that the Sangh is Hindu supremacist, anti-minority, anti-women and all such misconceptions have been spread.”
He told that the purpose of America trip is to remove these misconceptions. An important responsibility before the Sangh in its centenary year is to remove the misconceptions spread about India and Hindu culture and to make it clear what values the Sangh stands for. Hosabale said, “The narrative that has been created about India and Hindu culture has been distorted for decades – both within and outside the country. He said, “A large number of people, even those who do not come from Sangh background, are engaged in presenting the correct picture of India and Hindu culture. There is a need to spread these things in the society. This is an area where the association wants to pay more attention.
‘Hindu society capable of contributing in every field’
Hosabale gave a message to the Indian immigrants settled in America that they should become good citizens, win the hearts of the local people with hard work and prove that the Hindu society is capable of contributing and providing leadership in every field. He said, “The Sangh believes that the Indians who have come here to make their career, whether in the academic field or anything else, should remain loyal to this country because it is from here that their livelihood depends.
