Actress and television host Kubbra Sait offers a new definition of fitness. For her, fitness does not just mean body weight, rather she believes that having a strong mind and understanding oneself is more important than staying fit. Known for her outspoken opinions on body image and mental health, Kubbra believes that wellness truly begins in the mind and from there its impact reaches the body. In a conversation, he shared how his thinking about health changed with time, how important the role of therapy was in his life and how a disciplined life has kept him balanced even in today’s stress.
Feeling good is more important than looking good
According to Kubbra, the biggest problem in the fitness world is that people put too much emphasis on appearance. She says, ‘Today we are all surrounded by a barrage of fitness hacks and trends full of information, so much so that our entire attention remains focused only on the body. We forget that every body is different. The pressure we put on ourselves is to look good, not to actually feel good. However, for me fitness means a healthy mind.
Pandemic became the turning point of wellness journey
The period of Covid-19 proved to be an important turning point in Kubra’s wellness journey. During this time, he understood how deeply stress, hormones and mental health are related to each other. She says, ‘During Covid, I understood how our body works, full of chemicals like dopamine, estrogen, testosterone and serotonin, which are controlled by the brain.’
Kubbra also emphasizes that stress affects not only the mental condition but also the physical health. According to him, ‘Stress increases cortisol, and when cortisol increases, the body is not able to lose weight. If the mind is not strong, then the first impact is on the body.
Discipline is very important
In a world full of work pressure, surrounding challenges and everyday hustle and bustle, Kubbra considers mental discipline very important. Her wellness mantra is simple but effective. She says, ‘Health is not a destination, but a process to be followed daily. Feeling healthy is related to the fact that you can be fully present in your life mentally and physically.
At the age of 42, Kubbra is neither running after youth nor looking for any external approval. He has chosen balance, self-respect and mental strength. She says, ‘In the 21st century, if we pay attention to our mind and remain disciplined with both mind and body, then this is the right balance. Everything around us is stressful, be it work, environment, pollution or our weak and bad days. If the mind is not strong, its impact first falls on the body.
Real fitness starts from within
Kubbra teaches that real fitness starts from within, not from outside. When we take care of our brain and mind, the body automatically starts living better. By embracing mindfulness rather than pressure, discipline rather than trends, and self-awareness rather than perfection, Kubbra proves that when the mind is taken care of, the body will naturally follow suit.
