US-Israel-Iran War: US President Donald Trump said that US forces (CENTCOM) have carried out the most powerful air strikes on Iran’s important Kharg island. He clarified that Iranian military bases were completely destroyed in this attack, but the oil infrastructure was kept safe.
Trump wrote on social media, ‘Just at my direction, American forces carried out one of the most powerful air strikes in the history of the Middle East and completely destroyed all military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island.’ He further said, ‘I decided not to destroy the oil infrastructure on the island.’
Know the importance of Kharg Island
Kharg Island, located in the Persian Gulf north of Iran, handles about 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports. It is about 483 kilometers northwest of the Strait of Hormuz and about 24 kilometers from the mainland. According to CNBC, it has the capacity to load about 70 lakh barrels of oil in a day.
President Trump warned Iran that if the safe movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz is hindered in any way, he will immediately reconsider its policy. He said that America will soon start security cover for the safety of ships passing through this route. If Iran or anyone else interferes in the movement of this route, I will immediately reconsider this decision.
