India has confirmed the death of its citizens amid increasing tension in the Strait of Hormuz located in the Middle East between Iran and Israel-US war. What information did the Shipping Ministry give?
On behalf of the Shipping Ministry, Special Secretary Rajesh K Sinha has said that the Government of India is keeping an eye on Indian ships operating in and around the Strait of Hormuz. He said that the Indian flagged ship has left Hormuz. It was located in the east of the area. He did not need to cross this path.
Apart from this he said that this ship is not coming to India. Going to Africa. All Indian ships are being monitored in this area. Coordination is ongoing with shipping companies. Dozens of ships are present in this area. Sinha said that many Indian flagged ships and hundreds of sailors are present in Hormuz. There are 24 ships here. There are 677 sailors on board. Earlier there were four ships in the Gulf of Oman, one of them, an oil tanker named Jag Prakash, left that area. Now only three ships are left there. There are 76 Indian citizens on board. He has said that 23000 Indian citizens are working in this entire Gulf area. These include cargo ships and offshore ships. The Directorate General of Shipping is in constant touch with all of them through its agencies. LPG ships are being given priority at ports.
News of three Indian sailors killed so far
Sinha said that till now three Indian citizens have been reported killed due to this tension. One civilian is missing among them. Apart from this, the death of Indian citizens has been confirmed in Oman. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that two Indian citizens died in Muscat. Both have been identified as Asim Jar Mahajan and Suhas. Indian control room has also been created in West Asia. Jaiswal told that this facility was started on March 4. So far we have received about 900 phone calls and 200 emails. The Prime Minister has spoken to the Iranian leadership and expressed deep concern about the safety of the Indians present there. The Foreign Minister has also spoken to the Foreign Minister of Iran. In this he told that our policy is of negotiation and diplomacy. This situation should be resolved through these methods.
Petroleum Ministry said – Adequate stock of crude oil
Apart from this, there has been talk of difficulties in travel due to closure of airspace. Many air journeys have been disrupted. Kuwait airspace has been closed. Airspace is closed in Iraq. Helping the return of Indian citizens through Saudi Arabia. The government said that the fuel supply is stable.
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Petroleum Ministry, said that the refineries have sufficient stock of crude oil. Fuel distribution is continuing normally. The availability of domestic LPG and CNG remains uninterrupted. 101,469 petrol pumps are operational across India. Fuel stock remains sufficient.
