T20 World Cup 2026 Super-8 Reserve Day Rule: T20 World Cup 2026 is moving towards its next phase i.e. Super-8. India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, West Indies, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand have qualified for Super-8. Like the league stage, Super-8 matches will also be played in both India and Sri Lanka. There was no rain in the league stage matches played in India, but in Sri Lanka, the matches were canceled due to rain.
In such a situation, a question is rapidly arising in the minds of cricket lovers that if any Super-8 match is canceled due to rain, will there be a reserve day for it? Let us tell you that no provision for reserve day was made in the league stage.
Reserve day rule in Super-8?
Just as no reserve day was kept for the league stage matches, similarly no reserve day was kept for the Super-8 matches also. According to ICC rules, to get the result of a T20 match, both the teams will have to play at least 5 overs each. If even 5-5 overs are not completed in the match, then the match will be canceled and both the teams will be given 1-1 point.
First match of Super-8 between Pakistan and New Zealand
The Super-8 phase is starting from Saturday, 21st February. The first match of this phase will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand. This match will be held at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
All teams will play 3-3 matches in Super-8
It is noteworthy that the teams have been kept in two groups for Super-8. There are 4-4 teams in both the groups. Each team in the group will play one match each against the remaining three teams. In this way, all the teams in Super-8 will move towards the semi-finals by playing 3-3 matches. The top-2 teams in both the groups will qualify for the semi-finals. In this way the tournament will continue to progress.
