Due to rising prices of processor, GPU and memory components, laptop prices may increase by up to 35 percent this year. Experts say that due to increase in RAM prices and shortage of entry-level Intel processors, the prices of laptops are sure to increase.
Fall forecast after record shipments
According to Moneycontrol report, laptop prices may increase by up to 35 percent this year. After record shipments in 2025, PC shipments are expected to decline by 8 percent this year. Let us tell you that last year India’s PC market had shipped about 16 million units, which was 10 percent more than in 2024. This was the first time that the shipment of the PC market had crossed the figure of 15 million units.
Prices start showing impact
For some time now, laptops have started becoming expensive due to shortage of memory chips and rising prices of other components. The price of memory chips has increased by 2.5-3 times and this has made laptops and desktops costlier by 10-12 percent. This month too, another 10 percent increase in prices is being expected and similar prices are going to increase in the next few months. Laptops, which were earlier sold at a price of Rs 30,000-35,000, have now started touching the figure of Rs 45,000.
No hope of getting relief soon
If you are thinking that the prices will fall after a few days, then it is not going to happen, experts say that the situation is not going to become normal for the next 6-7 quarters. It is believed that the PC market will get relief from rising prices and component shortage in the second half of next year.
