In the first meeting held on the Gaza issue, Shahbaz was seen in the back row and somewhat isolated. There came a moment when Donald Trump gestured to Shahbaz during his speech and he immediately stood up from his seat.

India was also present in it as an observer. Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to America started with controversies. Many typos were found in the press release of Pakistan Foreign Ministry. Instead of ‘United States’, ‘Unites States of America’ was written. Its screenshot went viral on social media and questions were raised on government level proofreading.

Vice President JD Vance and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio were present with him. During the speech, when Trump asked him to stand up, he immediately stood up. Due to this, he was even called ‘Donald Trump’s puppet’ on social media. Meanwhile, Trump described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘great person’ and a ‘very good friend’. This made Shahbaz look more uncomfortable.

In his speech, Shehbaz Sharif called Donald Trump a ‘man of peace’. He also called him the true savior of South Asia. Shahbaz also gave credit to Trump for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan after the military confrontation in May. He said, “Your timely and effective intervention to establish ceasefire between India and Pakistan probably saved the lives of 2.5 crore people. You have truly proved to be a Man of Peace. I want to say that you are truly the Messiah of South Asia. Gaza will be your legacy.”
