Maoism towards end in Telangana! Surrender of four big leaders including Politburo member

Four top leaders of the organization have surrendered before the police, signaling closure of a major chapter of the Maoist movement in Telangana. These include the organization’s official spokesperson and Politburo member Tipiri Tirupati alias Devuji, who was underground for the last 44 years.

With the surrender of these leaders, the Maoist State Committee of Telangana is now considered to be finished, which is a big success for the Central and State Government. This incident has happened at a time when the Central Government has set a target to completely eliminate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) from the country by March 2026.

Main leaders of the organization surrendered

This is not just a simple surrender, but the story of the decline of an ideology. The most important name is that of Devuji, known by the nickname ‘Abhay’, who was considered the biggest strategist and face of the Maoist party. Along with him, Malla Raji Reddy alias Sangram, who has come out of the jungle with 46 years of long experience, has also laid down his arms. In fact, both the leaders have been the backbone of the organization for decades.

Apart from this, the surrender of Telangana military operations chief Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar and PLGA advisor Nune Narasimha Reddy is also a big blow to the organization. According to police sources, after the appearance of these four, the Telangana State Committee has now disintegrated and there is no effective structure of Maoist leadership left in the state.

Telangana Police’s main role in this big change

The strict action of Telangana Police and the intention of the Central Government are the main reasons behind this big change. In the last few years, the security forces created so much pressure in the forests that it became difficult for the top leadership to even breathe. The government promised a rehabilitation policy and a better life for those who surrendered, the effect of which is now visible.

It is also believed that the lack of new recruits and the increasing age of the old leaders also forced them to take this decision. Decades of violence and the fatigue of hiding in the forests have shown these commanders the way to return to the mainstream.

The administration believes that the surrender of these top leaders will affect the other workers hiding in the forests and they will also be inspired to lay down their arms. Now it will be interesting to see how the government rehabilitates these senior leaders and how effective this step proves to be in making Telangana completely ‘Maoist free’.
