A major train accident was averted in Karimnagar district of Telangana in the early hours of Thursday. According to the information, the engine of train number 22737 suddenly suffered a technical fault, due to which the train had to be stopped midway. The incident took place near Madipalli village in Jammikunta mandal of Karimnagar district. According to railway sources, a wheel of the engine of the train going at high speed suddenly broke. As soon as there was a signal of trouble in the engine, the driver immediately stopped the train showing alertness. A major accident was averted when the train stopped in time, otherwise the lives of hundreds of passengers could have been in danger.
According to eyewitnesses, the train suddenly stopped at around 2 o’clock in the night. At that time most of the passengers were in deep sleep. As soon as the train stopped, there was a commotion among the passengers and many people got scared and came out of the coach. For some time the passengers did not understand why the train had stopped. Later, during investigation, railway employees found that an important wheel of the engine was broken.
The train stood on the tracks for several hours
Due to technical fault, the train remained standing on the tracks for several hours. Railway’s technical team was immediately called to the spot and investigation of the damaged engine was started. The team of engineers decided to connect the train to another engine after temporary repairs. After the repair work was completed, the train was slowly moved forward with the help of another engine and finally it reached Uppal railway station safely. It is a matter of relief that no passenger was injured in this entire incident.
A big incident could have happened
According to railway officials, if the fault was not detected in time, this incident could have taken the form of a major railway accident. At present the Railway Department is investigating how the wheel of the engine suddenly broke. After this incident, many questions have started being raised regarding railway security arrangements and technical inspection of trains. Passengers say that even a little negligence in regular inspection and maintenance can lead to major accidents. At present, Railways has ordered a detailed investigation into the matter.
