Twinkle Khanna became emotional after son Aarav entered his 20s, said – ‘I want to hold him, I want to leave him too…’

Twinkle Khanna has recently spoken openly about the sweet and bitter journey of motherhood. Reflecting on her relationship with her mother and her experiences as a parent, she said that as her elder son entered his 20s, she realized how painful, but equally important, it is for parents to give their children the freedom to find their own identity.

I understand more about books than the road.

In an interview given to Times of India, Twinkle Khanna spoke openly about her relationship with her mother and veteran actress Dimple Kapadia. He said, ‘The relationship between mother and daughter is rarely simple and straightforward, even if we have a good relationship. It doesn’t matter that I am 52 years old and have gained some wisdom from experiences. In my mother’s eyes, I will always remain that innocent, slightly stupid girl. I am more book smart than road smart. She is always ready to give me advice.

Twinkle further said that she understood the emotional difficulties of motherhood when her son Aarav Kumar entered his 20s. He also talked about the process of children becoming independent and growing apart as they grow up.

Twinkle said, ‘Right after puberty, we start opening doors against our parents. They have vents and small windows, but the main gate is rarely open. It wasn’t until my elder son reached his twenties that I understood how painful this struggle for identity can be for a mother. The desire to hold on to the child, the responsibility to let him go. Even if it feels like a forever separation. The pain between these two is reduced only by occasional messages and holidays spent together.
