Famous singer Shreya Ghoshal is in the news these days for one of her interviews. Recently he has spoken openly on the difference between men and women in the Indian music industry and society. Also giving the example of international music charts, he said that female artists like Taylor Swift and Rihanna often remain on top there, but this is rarely seen in India.
Women are not getting a chance
In an interview with Raj Shamani, Shreya Ghoshal said that if we look at the Indian music charts, there are very few songs by female singers. Leave aside the Top 10, even among the Top 50 songs, there are hardly 6 or 7 songs which have been sung by female singers. And this chart shows that women are not getting the same opportunities in the music industry as before. This situation was not there earlier and this change has been seen more in the last few years. For the last ten years, the industry has been going through changes. Meanwhile, many new music styles and fusions have emerged, but along with this, a kind of confusion is also visible. However, he is confident that with time this confusion will be resolved and things will gradually move towards balance.
Changes are taking place in the music industry
Apart from this, giving the example of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, Shreya said that at that time these two great singers had tremendous influence in the industry. Many times his popularity was more than that of many big male singers and dozens of his songs were released every year. At that time, women’s voices were given a lot of importance, but this seems to be changing with time. At present, the Indian music industry is going through a phase of change, where new experiments are taking place. In such a situation, it can be expected that in the coming time, female singers will again get the same importance and their representation in music charts will be seen better than before.
