While sharing the release on social media, the board wrote, “BCCI has announced a cash prize money of Rs 131 crore for Team India after its spectacular victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.”
BCCI had given 125 crores in 2024
Last year, the Indian Board had announced a prize money of Rs 125 crore for Team India after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. This time i.e. in 2026, this amount has increased by Rs 6 crore.
First team to win the title three times
The Indian team has become the first team to win the T20 World Cup title three times. Earlier, Men in Blue had won this trophy in 2007 and 2024. Apart from this, India has also become the first team to win two consecutive T20 World Cup trophies. In this way, Team India has set many records along with the victory.
