‘Rockstar’, one of the most popular and favorite romantic films of Hindi cinema, is still loved by the audience. The story and songs of this Ranbir Kapoor starrer film have made a special place in the hearts of people. Now recently the film’s director Imtiaz Ali has made a shocking revelation related to this.
During a fan meet-up in Mumbai, Imtiaz Ali told that the scene of Heer’s death at the end of the film was not initially a part of the script. Nargis Fakhri played the character of Heer in the film. According to Imtiaz Ali, when he wrote the story for the first time, his intention was to keep Heer alive and the direction of the story was something different. But later a big problem arose, when the entire script written by him got lost somewhere.
Imtiaz Ali did not want to kill Heer of ‘Rockstar’
Imtiaz said, ‘I wanted Heer to stay alive. I had written the complete draft script of ‘Rockstar’, but unfortunately it got lost. Many years later, when I got a chance to make a film and I tried to find her, I could not find her anywhere. It wasn’t even in the computer.
Story changed because of ‘Heer Ranjha’?
When Imtiaz Ali started rewriting the script of the film, the direction of the story gradually started changing. He told that at that time he was very inspired by the famous Punjabi love story ‘Heer Ranjha’. For this reason, Heer’s character was shown ending on a tragic note at the end of the film.
Imtiaz said, ‘When I wrote the script again, I don’t know how Heer died in the end. Maybe also because I was following the story of ‘Heer Ranjha’ a lot. For this reason, the girl is also named Heer and she dies before Ranjha, hence the film ends before Jordan’s death.
Let us tell you, Ranbir Kapoor has played the role of a musician named Jordan in the film ‘Rockstar’. The story shows how love, heartbreak and personal troubles turn him into a famous but broken rock star from within.
