West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while addressing an election rally in Hooghly on Saturday (April 25, 2026), said, ‘We are going to file a legal case against Amit Shah for his violent statements. As a Home Minister he cannot make such statements.

He said, ‘Such a pressurizing attitude of BJP will fail to influence the voters of West Bengal. It is completely unacceptable to talk about hanging people upside down after the elections. With this thinking and mentality you can never win Bengal, never…!’

What statement did Union Home Minister Amit Shah give?
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a rally in Birbhum district of West Bengal, had said that the people of Bengal will answer the bombs and bullets with votes and will bring the Bharatiya Janata Party to power by winning the assembly elections. He said, ‘Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons will no longer be able to scare the people of West Bengal with bomb blasts. The people of Bengal will answer the bombs with votes and the fear with confidence.
Accusing the Mamata Banerjee government of corruption and creating mafia rule, Shah said, ‘The people of West Bengal should say goodbye to Mamata Banerjee’s government. After this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take up the responsibility of teaching a lesson to the syndicates and those involved in bribery. After this he said, ‘I advise TMC goons to stay in their homes, otherwise we will pick them up one by one on May 4 and put them in jail.’
