The Supreme Court has refused to listen to the demand for monitoring and repairing all government buildings, flyovers, roads and electrical wires. The bench headed by the Chief Justice said, ‘The Supreme Court cannot handle the administration of the entire country. It would be better if you file a petition for each state in the High Court there.

In the petition of an organization named Janashruti, many demands were made including third party audit of all public buildings and roads. The petitioner had mentioned problems like accidents due to potholes on the road and deaths due to electric shock. It was also demanded in the petition that people should be provided the facility to complain.

Hearing the case, the bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, ‘Very comprehensive demands have been made in the petition. It is like a shopping mall, in which everything is available. The petitioner wants us to ask the Central Government to direct the states to repair every building and road. If this happens then the states will immediately start asking for funds from the Centre.

The petition also demanded the creation of a standard procedure (SOP) to prevent deaths due to unsafe buildings, bridges, roads and electric shock. The Supreme Court said that the financial and administrative conditions of every state are different. There cannot be uniform instructions for the entire country. The High Courts there understand the circumstances of the state better. If the petitioner wishes, he can file petition in different High Courts.
