Smartphone Demand: The ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran is impacting the demand for LPG as well as smartphones. Since the start of the war, people visiting mobile stores have reduced and there is a huge decline in the demand for mobile phones. In such a situation, it is believed that there may be a huge decline in mobile shipments in the country in the January-March quarter. Let us know what are the reasons behind this.
People are avoiding buying expensive phones
According to the report of Moneycontrol, retailers said that now less people are coming to the stores and the sales of phones have also slowed down. People are now avoiding buying new phones and especially mid-range and premium segment models. All India Mobile Retailers Association says that after concerns over LPG availability and intensification of Iran conflict, people are now giving priority to buying household items instead of smartphones. Due to this, the demand for induction stove and AC and refrigerator has increased in view of the summer season.
Declining mobile shipments
According to the report, Upasana Joshi, Senior Research Manager at IDC Asia Pacific, said that this year the start was slow in terms of shipments. Shipments remained weak in January as well as February. Initial data suggests that shipments may fall to 27-28 million in the first quarter, from 32 million during the same period last year.
increasing costs
On one hand, the demand for smartphones is decreasing and on the other hand, increasing costs are giving a blow to the industry. Due to global energy crisis, import cost has increased. In such a situation, along with pricing, pressure on margins is also increasing.
