The blast that took place on Monday night on the railway track near Shambhu in Patiala, Punjab has once again raised questions on law and order in the state. In the month of January this year, there was an IED blast targeting the engine of a goods train in Sirhind, in which the loco pilot was injured. This explosion also took place on the same railway track on which the blast took place on Monday night.
Due to the second blast targeting the railway track this year, the opposition has also attacked the government on this issue and is raising questions on law and order. On Monday night, Khalistani elements tried to target the track made for goods trains on the railway line going from Shambhu to Rajpura.
Who took responsibility for the attack?

Jaswinder Singh Multani of Khalistan Tiger Force, who is sitting in Germany, has taken responsibility for the incident on social media. However, Patiala Police has exposed the terrorist module responsible for this incident and arrested four persons in this regard.
Police have arrested Pradeep Singh Khalsa (leader of the module), Kulwinder Singh Banga, Satnam Singh Satta and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi. One hand grenade, two pistols, live rounds, IED have been recovered from them.
What information came to light during the inquiry?
Apart from this, material for making IED, laptop and technical devices used to contact the handlers sitting in Malaysia have been recovered. During interrogation, it was revealed that this module was in direct contact with Pakistani Intelligence Agency (ISI) and Khalistani fundamentalist groups present abroad (Malaysia). Their main objective was to disrupt peace and create an atmosphere of fear by carrying out terrorist incidents in Punjab.
Case registered against the accused under these sections
A case has been registered against these accused under Section 3 of the Explosives Act, Section 150 of the Railway Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). It is worth noting that in the month of January this year, a goods train was targeted in a similar way in Sirhind through an IED blast in which the loco pilot of the goods train was injured.
Raising questions on the state security situation, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia has said that the blast that took place in Shambhu, Patiala on Monday night and the suspicious object found in Batala on Monday night itself raises questions on law and order in the state. In his post, he has also mentioned the explosion that took place on the railway track in Sirhind in the month of January.
