The elections for the 294-seat Assembly in West Bengal have concluded with the second phase of voting on Wednesday (April 29, 2026). Voting was held on 142 assembly seats in the second phase of elections in the state. The Election Commission had deployed a large number of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in West Bengal to conduct the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner, but even after the elections are over, the Election Commission has made full preparations to maintain security and law and order in the state.
According to the deployment plan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) released by the Election Commission on March 19, 2026, after the end of voting on Wednesday (April 29, 2026), 500 companies of CAPF will be deployed to maintain security and law and order in West Bengal. The Election Commission said that 500 companies of Central Armed Police Forces will remain deployed in West Bengal till further orders.
How many companies of which force will be deployed?
At the same time, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General GP Singh confirmed this instruction by sharing a post on social media platform X on Wednesday (April 29, 2026). He wrote in the post, ‘All the force commanders have also been informed that even after the election process is over, 500 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will remain deployed in West Bengal, unless any new orders are issued. This instruction has been clearly given in the order dated March 19, 2026.

CRPF Director General (DG) GP Singh also shared a picture in his post, in which information about the Central Armed Police Forces staying in West Bengal has been given. According to the Election Commission’s plan, the 500 companies of Central Armed Police Forces also include 200 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 150 companies of Border Security Force (BSF), 50 companies of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 50 companies of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and 50 companies of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
