The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved important success in a major case related to smuggling of illegal arms and ammunition. In this case, NIA has arrested Kamalkant Verma alias Uncle Ji from Patna, Bihar, who is considered to be the main character of this entire network. This matter started from Bihar and spread to many states of North India.
According to NIA, Kamalkant Verma was an important part of the supply chain in this smuggling gang. Investigation has revealed that he used to collect ammunition illegally from different gun houses in Haryana and other areas. After this, this ammunition was sent to Bihar and other parts of the country via Uttar Pradesh.
NIA had conducted a massive raid on December 4.
Before Kamalkant’s arrest, NIA had simultaneously raided 23 locations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana on December 4. During these raids, four other accused Ravi Ranjan, Shashi Prakash, Vijay Kalra and Kush Kalra were also arrested. A large number of arms and ammunition were also recovered during the operation.
11 people arrested so far, investigation continues
NIA said that a total of 11 people have been arrested so far in this case. The agency says that this arrest is a big step towards breaking the entire network of illegal arms smuggling spread in North India. The investigation of the case is still going on and more arrests may be made in future.
