West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (April 25, 2026) targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in West Bengal. He said that in their greed for power, BJP and TMC have caused a lot of harm to the people of West Bengal. The web of corruption and hooliganism is spread across the state, the people are upset and the government is just watching the show. Mamata Banerjee is paving the way for Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal.
He said that BJP and TMC together have left no stone unturned to destroy West Bengal. When I talked to a candidate from here, he told that readymade industry works here, but both Mamata Banerjee and Narendra Modi did not help the people associated with this industry, hence you should raise our issue in the Parliament. In such a situation, I want to ask you to make a white T-shirt for me. I will raise your voice in the Lok Sabha wearing the same T-shirt.

Congress’s aim is to bring a people-friendly government in Bengal: Rahul
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, while addressing an election rally in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal, said, ‘The people of Bengal are upset with Mamata Banerjee in the state and Narendra Modi at the Center and want change. In such a situation, our aim is to form a government for the people here which is public friendly and which works only for the public. During this, Rahul Gandhi promised five guarantees to the people of Bengal on behalf of Congress.
5 guarantees of Congress for West Bengal
- Bidhan Health Security – Under which the people of West Bengal will get health insurance up to Rs 10 lakh and free dialysis and cancer treatment in district hospitals.
- Krishak Samman Yojana- Under this, farmers will get annual assistance of Rs 15,000 and will get 200 units of free electricity.
- Education Aalo- Under this guarantee of Congress, students of West Bengal will get free education till graduation, women will get free education till PG and AI and English education in schools.
- Yuva Samman- Under this guarantee, all government vacant posts in West Bengal will be filled and internship will be guaranteed. With this, AI skill development center will be developed in every district.
- Under Durga Samman Guarantee, women of the state will be given assistance of Rs 2000 every month.
