Android Tap To Share Feature: It is soon going to be easier than ever for Android smartphone users to share files. According to reports, Google is working on a new feature Tap to Share which will allow sharing data instantly by bringing two phones closer. This feature is said to be quite similar to iPhone’s system like NameDrop.
How will Tap to Share work?
It will be very easy to use this feature. Both Android phones must be unlocked and brought close to each other such as screen to screen or by touching the top edge. As soon as both the devices are connected, a light animation will appear on the screen indicating that the data transfer has started.
If the connection is not made the first time, users can try again by placing the phones in a different manner, such as back-to-back. This is because the location of NFC sensor is different in phones of different companies.
Which things will you be able to share?
Through Tap to Share, not only photos or videos but also contacts, links, location and many other types of information can be shared. That means it is going to be an all-in-one file sharing tool. This feature will initially connect both the devices through NFC. But when it comes to large files, it will automatically switch to faster options like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth so that data can be transferred quickly.
Will work with existing system
Tap to Share will not be a completely new system but it will work in conjunction with Android’s existing share system. Especially it can integrate with Quick Share so that users will get a smooth and unified experience.
Attention to privacy and control also
In this feature, during contact sharing, users will get the option to choose what information they want to share like phone number, email or profile photo. This will give more control and security to the users.
When can this feature come?
Google has not yet officially announced this feature but it is believed that it can be introduced with Android 17 this year. Some early versions are also reported to have been seen in Samsung’s test devices, which indicates that its rollout is not far away.
