Big decision after ceasefire in Lebanon
After the ceasefire in Lebanon, Iran has taken a big decision and opened the Strait of Hormuz for commercial ships, but along with it some strict conditions have also been imposed. According to Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, now all ships passing through this route will have to take permission from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). That means no ship will be able to pass through this waterway without permission. Iranian officials also said that this agreement also includes the release of funds frozen by the US. That is, this step is not limited only to the movement of ships, but there has also been a large scale negotiation and agreement behind it.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry statement
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai clearly said that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will have to use only the route decided by Iran. It is clear from this that Iran wants to maintain its control over this entire area. According to the rules, civilian or commercial ships will be allowed to pass through Iran’s designated routes, but the entry of military ships has been completely banned. The opening of the Strait of Hormuz has brought relief to global trade and oil supply, but Iran has also maintained strict monitoring and control over it.
