Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prahlad Joshi has given a big statement regarding the development of Telangana. Giving details of the central assistance received by the state in the last 12 years, he said that the Modi government has contributed Rs 12 lakh crore to Telangana, which includes tax sharing and spending on infrastructure. He clarified that there is no shortage of money, but the projects are stalled due to corruption in land acquisition in the state.
Land related problems will be solved: Joshi
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Friday (February 6, 2026), Prahlad Joshi said, ‘We give money, but there is corruption in land acquisition here, due to which the work gets delayed.’ He said that as soon as the land related problems are resolved, the central government will also provide money for land acquisition. He also said that 5,000 kilometers of national highways have already been constructed in Telangana and the work will continue further.
Telangana will get Rs 33,180 crore in tax distribution: Joshi
To strengthen his point, the Union Minister presented the figures. He said that this time also Telangana will get Rs 33,180 crore in tax distribution. The total tax transfer in the last 12 years has been Rs 2.52 lakh crore.
During this, he targeted the UPA government era and said, ‘Those who ask what Telangana got, they should understand that during the UPA, this amount was not even Rs 60,000 crore.’
Union Minister made big announcements for local bodies
Apart from this, Joshi also made a big announcement for the local bodies of the state. He said that from 2026-27 to 2031-32, the villages of Telangana will get Rs 9,968 crore in the form of Rural Local Body Grants. Similarly, urban local bodies will receive Rs 11,548 crore, which will strengthen urban infrastructure.
In the politics of Telangana, disputes are often seen regarding distribution of funds between the central and state governments. This statement of Prahlad Joshi is part of the same political battle in which BJP is simultaneously raising the issue of development figures and corruption to corner the state government. His message is clear that the Center is giving money, but a question mark has been raised on the intentions of the state government in its proper use.
