Describing the youth population as India’s biggest strength, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Friday (February 27, 2026) that the world is looking towards the country for solutions to its challenges.
Addressing the eighth convocation of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth University, Indore as the chief guest, Om Birla said, ‘All the countries of the world are looking towards India for solutions to their challenges. The eyes of these countries are on the demographic strength of our youth.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha said that the youth are the biggest strength of India whose potential, self-confidence and new vision are taking India on the path of development. He said that the number of youth in the population of many countries is decreasing due to which their ability to fight challenges is also decreasing.
Om Birla said, ‘With the help of innovations and new research, the capability of India’s youth to solve global challenges is continuously increasing. Our youth are solving the challenges of India as well as the world through start-ups. It is our responsibility to solve these challenges.
He stressed that to deal with global challenges, the youth of the country will have to work harder and increase their capabilities. Om Birla said, ‘We have to adapt ourselves to the changing technologies by making joint efforts in the campuses of our universities so that we can become more capable to meet the global challenges.’
He said that in the present period, the foundation of India’s changing future is being laid and the innovations and new research of the youth are taking the country on the path of progress. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha wished all the students attending the convocation to face the future challenges of real life and expressed confidence that they will contribute in every possible way towards the goal of making India a developed nation.
Praising the various educational institutions established in Indore on the basis of the initiative taken by the textile traders of Vaishnav community in the year 1884, he said that these institutions protected the Indian culture and values ​​even during the period of slavery of the country.
Birla said that during the rule of the Mughals and the British, the rulers worked with the aim of destroying India’s spiritual culture, rituals and thoughts, but due to the cultural energy of the country, their plans could not succeed.
Indore Lok Sabha MP Shankar Lalwani and University Chancellor Purushottamdas Pasari were also present at the convocation ceremony. During the ceremony, degrees were awarded to 2,008 students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and 32 PhD scholars. On this occasion, 16 meritorious students of the institute were also awarded gold medals for securing top positions in the examinations of their courses.
