Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday kicked off the campaign for the Punjab Assembly elections from Barnala and cornered the Central Government on India-US trade agreement to help the farmers and people associated with industries of the state.
Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has signed this trade agreement under pressure from American President Donald Trump. He said that this agreement is going to bring a storm in the country and the Indian markets will be filled with American products and the farmers and small industries of the country will be ruined.
Why did you compromise suddenly: Rahul Gandhi
He said that the India-US trade agreement was pending for a long time, then what was the reason that Prime Minister Narendra Modi suddenly agreed to this agreement. He said that he knows that the Prime Minister also wanted to keep the agriculture sector out of this trade agreement, but under pressure, the agriculture sector has also been included in this agreement.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself called the US President and said that he is ready for this trade agreement, information about which was given by US President Donald Trump himself.
Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also given the data related to the people of India to America because the 21st century is going to be the century of data and this has also been done under pressure.
Farmers are going to be ruined by trade agreement: Rahul Gandhi
To increase the appeal among the farmers and laborers of Punjab, Rahul Gandhi said that the farmers and laborers of the country are the foundation of the country but due to the trade agreement, the farmers are going to be ruined and due to the ruin of MNREGA, the laborers are going to be ruined.
Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a guarantee to Trump in this deal that India will buy products worth Rs 9 lakh crore every year, due to which our small industries will be ruined. The Prime Minister has said in this deal that India will buy oil from whichever country America wants, due to which India’s energy security is in danger.
He asked what pressure was there on the Prime Minister that a deal was made with death warrants for every region of the country. Prime Minister Modi is not able to oppose Trump’s words and has bowed his head and signed this trade agreement. Addressing the farmers of Punjab, Rahul Gandhi said that the farmers of Punjab have to remember that Narendra Modi had earlier brought agricultural laws also.
