Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin made a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Center during the Christmas program organized in Chennai. He alleged that BJP does not accept the concept of secularism and it wants to eliminate secularism from the Constitution. Stalin said that secularism for BJP is as bitter as the neem fruit.
According to PTI, the Chief Minister in his address clearly said that the real strength of India lies in its diversity and mutual brotherhood, but some forces are trying to weaken it. MK Stalin said that Christmas is not just a religious festival but a symbol of compassion, love and peace. He said that in a multi-religious country like India, it is very important for Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities to live together and have mutual respect. Such events strengthen mutual understanding and harmony in the society.
Sara Tucker’s historic contribution to women’s education
In his speech, the Chief Minister referred to the famous 19th century Christian social worker Sarah Tucker and said that she laid the foundation of women’s education in South Tamil Nadu. Her initiative started in Tirunelveli region is still providing education opportunities to thousands of women. Stalin said that institutions like Sarah Tucker College are examples of social change.
DMK’s commitment to minorities
The Chief Minister claimed that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is the only political force which is continuously working for the rights and welfare of minorities. He said that during the DMK rule, many historic decisions were taken for minority communities, which led to their social and educational development.
Mention of Tamil Nadu government schemes
Stalin said his government has increased pilgrimage assistance for minority communities, crores of rupees have been spent on the renovation and conservation of churches and government land has been made available for cemeteries in many districts. Along with this, a large number of teachers have been appointed in minority educational institutions, due to which the education system has been strengthened. He also said that now educational institutions have been given the right to choose their teachers, so that their autonomy is maintained.
Serious allegations against the central government
The Chief Minister described the BJP government at the Center as a threat to the minorities. He said that DMK has always opposed decisions like the Citizenship Amendment Act, while some other parties supported it. Stalin reiterated that his party would stand against every policy that harms the country’s unity and democracy.
Questions on the idea of one nation, one identity
MK Stalin alleged that BJP wants to impose one religion, one language, one culture and one leadership on the country. He said that Tamil Nadu and DMK have so much power that they will never let this idea succeed.
Warning regarding voting rights
Talking about the special intensive revision process, the Chief Minister said that it is still incomplete. He expressed apprehension that the central government may try to deprive the voters of their rights, but the DMK will oppose it at every level and protect democracy.
Christmas tradition continuing for 15 years
Stalin told that DMK MLA S. Inigo Irudayaraj has been organizing Christmas celebrations as a symbol of equality and brotherhood for the last 15 years. This program was conducted under ‘Manithaneya Magatwa Christmas Peruwiza 2025’.
