In a conversation with veteran cricketer Kevin Pietersen, he told that he is not able to roam around in his own country and city like ordinary people. He says that he has to travel in a bulletproof vehicle.
can’t roam the streets
Speaking to Kevin Pietersen, Rashid Khan said, “I cannot roam on the streets of Afghanistan like ordinary people. I have a bulletproof car.” Kevin Pietersen was shocked to hear about the bulletproof car and asked why Rashid Khan roams around in Kabul with a bulletproof car?
Rashid Khan said, “This is for security. You do not want to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is normal in Afghanistan, every famous personality here has a bullet proof car.” By saying the word ‘normal’, Rashid Khan told how he lives in Afghanistan. Rashid also told how even going out to play in his childhood was not without danger.
Rashid Khan is currently the highest wicket taker in international T20 cricket. He has taken 182 wickets in 108 matches so far. Recalling his childhood, he said, “I was not allowed to go out and play. Playing for Afghanistan used to be my biggest dream.
Taliban rule in Afghanistan
Taliban rule returned to Afghanistan in 2021. When America withdrew its army, Taliban rule was re-established there. Even the then President of the country Ashraf Ghani had to flee.
