The accused in the firing at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held in Washington DC has been accused of attempting to assassinate the US President and was presented in the Federal Court. If found guilty, 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen could face life in prison.
Allen did not give any plea during his appearance before 2 Assistant Public Defenders. According to news agency AP, one of his lawyers, Tejira Abe, said that Allen has no criminal record and is considered innocent at this time.
US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and several senior officials and journalists were attending a dinner organized at the Washington Hilton Hotel when the incident occurred. Allen broke the security cordon and opened fire while moving towards the venue. He was arrested by the police, while the President and the Vice President were taken to a safe place.
Who is Cole Thomas Allen?
A graduate of the California Institute of Technology, Allen is a mechanical engineer, computer scientist, indie game developer, and part-time teacher living in the Los Angeles area. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 2017 and later completed a master’s degree in computer science from California State University-Dominguez Hills.
About ten minutes before the shooting began, Allen sent an anti-Trump manifesto to his family members. In this document, signed with the name Cole Coldforce Friendly Federal Assassin Allen, he described his reasoning, his target and his assessment of the security arrangements at the scene.

Called himself a friendly federal assassin
According to a report in the New York Post, he wrote that turning the other cheek is when you yourself are a victim. I am not the person who was raped in a concentration camp. I am not the fisherman who was hanged without trial. I am not the schoolboy who was bombed, nor the child who was starved, nor the teenager who was exploited by the many criminals of this administration. When someone has been oppressed, turning the other cheek is not Christian behavior. To do so would be to collude with the oppressor.
He further said that I will not allow a pedophile, rapist and traitor to be accused of his crimes. In his manifesto, Allen described himself as a friendly federal assassin.
