‘Get out of my country’, ruckus created after misbehavior with Sikh in Canada, know what is the matter

A shocking case of racial discrimination has come to light from Canada. A young man not only made racial remarks on an elderly Sikh but also attacked him. Canadian police, considering the incident motivated by hatred, have arrested the attacker and started investigating the matter.

This incident happened on 22nd April. According to the police, the old man was going on the roadside in Ontario (Woodstock). During that time a young man came near him and pushed him. Woodstock police said in a statement that the young man has been charged with multiple charges. According to the police, the youth targeted the victim on the basis of his racial identity, made comments and also used abusive language. However, the victim was not injured.

What did the Woodstock police say?
Investigation found that the young man attacked the old man without any provocation. The statement said that after the attack, the youth jumped over the fence of Turtle Island School and entered the premises and then ran away from there. Police said, “After investigation, the youth has been arrested on charges of hate-motivated attack.” He has been kept in custody till the bail hearing.

Woodstock Police said that videos of this incident are going viral on social media, in which the young man is heard repeatedly making racist comments. In the video he can be heard saying, “What are you doing in my country? You don’t belong here, get out of my country.” Police said, “There is no place for hatred in our society. We are committed to ensuring the safety of every member of the community. Anyone who is a victim of any heinous incident should inform the police.

World Sikh Organization expressed concern
Meanwhile, the World Sikh Organization, in a statement issued on Twitter, expressed deep concern over this incident and termed the attack as unacceptable. The organization thanked the Woodstock Police for their quick action. “Our recent anti-Sikh report shows that such incidents are part of a wider and worrying pattern,” the organization said.
