India is emerging as a big assembly hub for Apple. The company exported iPhones worth $2 billion from India last month. This is the biggest export of iPhone from India in a month. Talking about the first eight months of this financial year, Apple has sent iPhones worth a total of $ 14 billion from India to foreign countries. Let us tell you that in the last few years, there has been a lot of increase in mobile exports from India. A total of smartphones worth $18.7 billion were exported from India between April and November this year.
Apple has the largest share in smartphone exports from India
According to the report of Business Standard, smartphones worth $ 2.7 billion were exported from India in November, of which Apple has about 75 percent share. Till last year, Apple used to assemble iPhones in its three plants located in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in India, but recently it has set up two more plants in these two states. Of these, three are owned by Tata, while two are operated by Foxconn.
Most of the iPhones sold in America will be made in India
Apple wants to make most of the iPhones sold in America in India by the end of next year. Actually, after the tariff imposed by America, it will be expensive for Apple to make iPhones from China. America has imposed 100 percent tariff on China, while 26 percent on India. In such a situation, it is much cheaper for Apple to export iPhones from India than from China. Now apart from iPhone, Apple also wants to assemble chips in India. According to media reports, the company has started talks with Indian companies for assembling the display chip of the iPhone.
