Amit Shah on Muslim Women Reservation: On Thursday i.e. 16th April, three bills for amendment of women’s reservation were introduced in the Lok Sabha. Once approved, reservation for women will be implemented from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. After this, 33 percent seats in the House will be reserved for women. There is a heated debate going on in the House regarding this. In such a situation, there was a heated argument between Home Minister Amit Shah and SP MP Akhilesh Yadav. Shah said- There is no talk of reservation on the basis of religion in the Constitution.

It so happened that Akhilesh Yadav demanded to make separate arrangements for OBC women and Muslim women. He said why there is no provision regarding reservation in it?

Amit Shah replied on this. Shah said that there is no talk of reservation on the basis of religion in the Constitution. He clearly said that the government will not accept any talk of reservation for Muslims. This is against the Constitution itself.

Shah’s taunt said – We have no objection if SP gives all the tickets to Muslim women.

After this Akhilesh Yadav said that how did my words become unconstitutional? Will Muslim women not be considered women? On this Shah said that we have no objection. If Samajwadi Party wants then it should give all the tickets to Muslim women only.

Seats will be increased under the delimitation process
Among the three bills presented by the government, one amendment bill is also regarding increase of seats in the House. In this, the present 543 Lok Sabha seats will increase to 850. Of these, 815 seats are for states and 35 seats are for union territories. This delimitation process is to be done on the basis of 2011 census. The government has said that 50 percent seats will be increased in every state.
